The Churchyards at All Hallows

The "Old" and the "New"
There are 2 connected Churchyards at All Hallows. The "Old" Churchyard contains burials up to around 1980 when adjacent land was converted to give extra burial space and that is now known as the "New" Churchyard.
To access the "New" Churchyard from the main entrance of the church follow the path from the east side of the Church part of the way down through the Old Churchyard until you see the gateway entrance on the right to the New Churchyard. Alternatively it can be accessed from Thorpe Rd.
Ashes are buried in two areas if not added to an existing grave. Those who were cremated between about 1980 and 2000 are situated in the "Old" Cremation Area situated in a rectangular area alongside Union St on the West side of the Church building near to the road.
Since 2000 ashes have been placed in a circular area in the centre of the "New" Churchyard.
To find the position of someone's grave:
OLD CHURCHYARD - there is a plan of this area and an alphabetical index of graves on the website www.genuki.org
Click the plan above to access a larger image on the GENUKI website.
An alphabetical index of the graves with the assigned location number can also be accessed on the
GENUKI website: Harthill Graveyard People Index, Yorkshire (West Riding)
NB This survey was performed in the 1980s and not all gravestones were legible.
If you use the index first it will give the individual's grave number and you can then search on the plan for the location.
NEW CHURCHYARD - inside the Church you will find an A4 size hardback folder entitled New Churchyard. This contains a plan of the burial area, the New cremation area and the Old cremation area with an alphabetical index.
