Focal Ministers - what are they?

Focal Ministers serve the church in a public-facing role in their parishes. They are authorised by the Bishop, supported by the diocese and provide a regular presence in a congregation and/or community. They are authorised for a period of three years.

Focal Ministers may already be a Reader, Churchwarden or other lay minister, others may be ordained.

At All Hallows Church Harthill, we have 2 Focal Ministers – Felicity Dorrington and Susan Cope. Those of you who come to Church services will already know them.  They can lead services when there is no ordained minister eg Café Church which is usually held on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

Felicity has a leading role in the Wonder Club – an “after school” club held on Mondays at Harthill Primary School.
