Thy Kingdom Come survey

"Give us this day our daily bread" - topped the poll for the most recognisable words in Britain, above the National Anthem! The survey was commissioned in May 2025 by the Church of England and performed by Savanta. More than 2000 people were given multiple choice options and asked to choose the source of the most widely recognised quotations. The survey was weighted to represent the general public by age, gender, region and ethnicity. 80.3% recognised that "Give us this day our daily bread" came from the Lord's Prayer, narrowly beating "May the force be with you" from the Star Wars films. Somewhat of concern was that 3% of people thought that the Star Wars quotation came from the National Anthem.
